Is Your Coffee Too Fast? Causes and Solutions
Have you ever brewed coffee and it flowed too fast, like water with no resistance? This results in under-extracted coffee with a sour or watery taste. Here are some key adjustments to fix this:
Check the Roast Date: Coffee older than a month and a half loses gases and essential oils, causing faster water flow. Always use fresh coffee for best results.
Check the Coffee Amount: Using less coffee than necessary reduces resistance, causing fast flow. Use the recommended dosage.
Ensure Coffee Pod Stability: When placing the filter holder, avoid destabilizing the compacted coffee. An uneven pod causes water to leak through weak points, affecting extraction.
Adjust the Grind: If coffee still flows too fast, grind it finer. A finer grind offers more resistance, improving extraction time and enhancing flavors. Purge the grinder between settings to avoid residue.
