Coffee Too Slow: Causes and Solutions
Have you ever brewed coffee and it starts dripping slowly or not at all? This usually indicates an issue with the brewing process. Here are the most common causes and solutions for perfect extraction:
Check the Coffee Amount: Ensure the right amount of coffee in the portafilter. Too much coffee slows extraction and results in bitter coffee. Reduce the dosage slightly to improve flow.
Adjust the Pressure: Pressing the coffee too hard compacts the grind, preventing water from passing through. Apply firm but balanced pressure, ensuring the surface is level.
Change the Grind Size: If coffee still comes out too slowly, the grind might be too fine. A finer grind restricts water flow, leading to prolonged extraction and over-extracted flavors. Try a coarser grind and purge the grinder between adjustments to avoid residue mixing.
